Recherché

Distance and the yearning heart,

A piece missing, I fall apart.
Lost in chaos, I search in vain,
For a soul that echoes my pain.
Life is a test, love is a trial,
How do I make it all worthwhile?
I always do, though I do not remain the same,
For every broken piece, I’m remade.
Like a Phoenix, I rise anew,
From the ashes of what I once knew.
Is it a treacherous myth or a beautiful reality,
The person in the mirror asks, “What are you, really?”
Standing before the reflection,
I ask myself with introspection,
What am I, truly and deep,
A soul that’s scarred, but still complete.
Volcanoes of my emotions never erupt in flames,
Instead, the lava stays frozen in my mind.
Tornadoes of my feelings keep swirling inside,
But their damage is never displayed outside.
Within me lies the power of an entire universe,
I don’t burn with flames of fire, but my flames are all cold ice,
Dressed like snow, I am flawlessly cold,
Burning with an intensity that never grows old.
You cannot keep the chill away from the heart of Winter,
Until you are worth melting for, or my mind takes a turn.
Ice takes on all shades of blue,
But to find that, you must be true.
My heart and mind often collide,
In a battle of wills, they cannot decide.
A walking, talking paradox, a mystery to solve,
But I can’t be devoured in one go.
To gain this magnificent demeanour,
I’ve evolved a thousand times, both in misery and ecstasy.
I am exotic, a pure enigma,
An untold story, an undiscovered era.
I am a rare gem, one of a kind,
A complex soul, that is hard to define.
My breaking is my becoming,
This truth keeps me alive.
