Shades of Aquatic

Much like the god of seas, Poseidon,

I am bold and valiant, yet lost in this terrain.

I find myself in unfamiliar lands,

A place that I cannot understand.

I roam this earth seeking identity,

A mermaid among a land of humanity.

Through olive green woods, I wander alone,

With a heart as deep as the ocean’s unknown.

Untamed, majestic, and free,

Like the waters that know no boundary.

I fear not the depths of intensity,

For it’s the shallows that haunt me.

These lands are mere detention centres,

But the sea cannot be contained.

I long to explore its infinite mystery,

And embrace its watery wild affinity.

It is life,

A way of life.

A reflection of the unconscious mind,

A mirror of our deepest urges and desires.

It’s the giver of life,

But it can also take one away.

Dangerous and unpredictable,

Yet powerful and fathomless.

It’s still calm, and serene,

At times, it’s peaceful and embracing.

It can harbour monsters within,

But also mystical creatures to be found.

It gives access to the unknown,

Places of transformation to be grown.

It’s a soul’s awakening,

A holy cleansing.

It’s an irresistible force,

Breaking through deep ravines and spreading over.

I hear it roaring like an enraged beast,

Calling me forth, and no one can stop me.

For today, it’s just a tiny drizzle,

But tomorrow, I know it will be a wild sea.

  1. You have done a wonderful job of showing the depth and diversity of the sea and clarified why I love her so much for her openness, freedom. and the flow of possibility while also loving the forest for grounding stability.
