Roots of a Woman

Oh daughters of Eve! Have you forgotten your grace?

Your purpose, your power, your sacred place?

Take a moment to reflect on your worth,

For you are goddesses, creators of life, and protectors of the earth.

Connected to the moon by your magical cycles,

Your intuition and foresight are divine miracles.

Kings protected and avenged, but it was the queens,

Their conscience and council, that kept the kingdom clean.

You were sent to give him life, to save and enhance,

To advise his ego, to see beyond the surface glance,

Feminine life with purpose, you are the revolutionary ones,

Having an impact on nations, changing the world, one by one.

Revered for your kind heart, gifts of life, and mental capacity,

Your beauty is more than just the movement of your body.

You were leaders and lovers, fought your way back up,

True goddesses who earned their glory and never gave up.

The glory you once attained, you must regain,

Be the light that shines, that never goes in vain,

Remember how vital you are, as a human,

Embrace your feminine roots, with pride and adoration.

Get the glory you once attained,

Be the fire feared, never afraid.

Remember always how vital you are as a human,

And do not forget your roots as a woman.

  1. I so love the eloquency, beautiful imagery, fire and vitality of your poems! This poem is a heartfelt homage to real feminism, a word that has lately been perverted. I think feminism is nothing other than achieving equal rights, job opportunities and social duties for women, men and trans, where gender supremacy of either part is out of place. Thus your poem tells so eloquently of women’s right to have a life of their own, to be strong and not so co-dependent, even though absolute freedom does not exist for any human being. We are a gregarious species and a certain degree of co-dependency is needed to survive. The last two verses of your poem provide a beautifully strong ending. Loved it!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful analysis of my poem, Marta. I’m glad that my words resonated with you.
You’re absolutely right that feminism is about achieving equal rights and opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their gender or identity. It’s important to recognise that feminism is about creating a world where everyone has the chance to thrive and reach their full potential. I appreciate your acknowledgement that while independence is important, we still rely on one another as social beings. It’s all about finding the balance between individual freedom and the need for social connection and support.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on my poem. It means a lot to me to know that my words have made an impact on someone else.

  2. Yes indeed. Almighty God made woman from man and made her incredibly magnificent. She completes man and multiplies his greatness, if she can only shed the repercussions of the fall in Eden.
